3. On the 3rd September last we remitted to the Colony at the request of the Colonial Government the equivalent of 700000 dollars, 1.e. £86,041. 13. 4. further remittance of £73,750,. being the equivalent of 600,000 dollars is being made to-day (30th September)

by cable, also at the request of the Colonial Government, end this amount has been taken into consideration in compiling the statement given in the

letter. first paragraph of thiẻ

4. With reference to your letters of the 10th and 19th March last relative to he contribution of £250,000 by the Government of Hongkong towards the cost of the proposed Naval Base at Singapore I would remind you that no portion of this amount (which is not included in the £1,052,129 and which has been set aside in a special Account) has been paid over to His Majesty's Government. It is understood however that probably £100,000 will be required before the 31st December next and that the question of the payment of further instalments will be deferred until early in 1926, in the meantime the money is being used by us to the best advantage and already £4,013 has been added by way of interest to the capital |
